Letter Documenting Need for Emotional Support Animal

An emotional support animal (ESA) is a companion animal (typically a dog or a cat, but sometimes other species) that provides therapeutic benefit to a person with a mental or emotional disorder. Unlike service animals, which are specially trained to perform specific tasks for their owners with disabilities, ESAs provide comfort, companionship, and relief from symptoms of emotional distress. They are often prescribed by mental health professionals as part of a treatment plan to help alleviate symptoms of conditions such as anxiety, depression, or PTSD.
